I apologize for the large break in posts. December was a rough month and now that it's behind me I can get back to a much more consistent blogging schedule.
The new year is always an interesting time, because everyone looks to improve in some way (which I love). The most common seems to be health/fitness. Which I am all about. So in the spirit of New Year Resolutions I give you: "The Brilliant Bastards Tips and Tricks to not Burning Out on a Healthy Lifestyle."
If you want to make any worthwhile change it has to be sustainable. Small snowballing changes are the ticket to success. If you want to eat healthier, do not start out reworking your whole diet, just start cutting out soda. Eat like you did before but don't drink any mountain dew/coke/dr. pepper WHATEVER. Just cut that shit out. Replace those cravings with water or just do your best to get your mind off your desire for carbonated empty calories.
Once you feel like you have your soda usage under control; I would then start making sure you don't eat out. Start cooking all your meals and take lunches to work/school. (This one is HUGE being in the habit of making your own food will make changing your diet a lot easier). Strong foundations etc. etc.
At this point I would start exercising your best judgement. You can start hitting the gym or the veggies. I don't recommend changing your diet and starting an exercise routine at the same time. Your willpower is split and you're gonna get burnt out. When you start these pieces you need to think in the long term. I don't want to have your health fluctuating and no one wants peaks and valleys when it comes to self-esteem (get to the top and STAY AT THE TOP). You want these changes to be permanent. So if you can't tackle everything at once that's o.k., because this shit is NOT A RACE. What you're doing is planting a tree. A tree that will need to take time to mature and grow, and if you take the time; day after day, month after month, year after year to water and care for this tree. You will find yourself to be a mighty and legendary oak (or sweet tiger, badass lion, hardcore wolf.) The point here is consistency and dedication are the traits of champions, and being a champion is good.
