Gym Time. What the hell are you going to do?

That's right the Brilliant Bastard is here to make sure you're actually doing something worthwhile in the gym.  I do not want to see you fucking around the dumbbells like a wannabe meathead.  Now, I want you to know right out, I really don't give a good goddamn about bodybuilding.  I am all about eating big and lifting big.  Big ass steak and big ass lifts are my M.O.  If you're looking for advice on how to get your arms and chest bigger here it is: bench a bunch and curl a bunch.  Alright, now that we've got that out of the way time to the good stuff.

(Once again I am not affiliated with these products or webpages, I just enjoy playing the advocate.  No reason to rip someone Else's work off and rebrand)

FOR BEGINNERS.

I recommend either Starting Strength by Rippetoe or doing Stronglifts 5x5 by Mehdi.  These both work around the same principles of Squat, Deadlift, and Bench in a 5x5 set up.  They both emphasize proper form above weight which is essential to starting out.  Now, if you have the cash buy Starting Strength but if you just need a cheap online resource go ahead and just follow Stronglifts.  If you follow these plans and eat enough you WILL build a great strength foundation.

FOR INTERMEDIATE AND ABOVE.

Wendler's 5/3/1 - Five/Three/One is a brilliant solution to anybody who needs to know what they need to do in the gym, the idea is simple.  CONSISTENCY.  Remember that really important word I talked about last week?  The idea is to work hard and smart over a long period of time.  You will receive the results you're looking for if you just stick with it.  It's a set up you have to trust.  If you need evidence of it's success here's 531years blog (he did 5/3/1 for a whole year hence the name).  I use the Android app Big Lifts to record and figure out my work outs on the fly (This app is set up for 5/3/1 and Starting Strength).  Wendler hates this app, but I'm not about to allow his attitude towards tech in the gym stop me from getting things done in an efficient manner.

Chaos & Pain (NSFW, he posts about lifting with many naked women thrown in) - Jamie Lewis is an asshole who lifts a ton.  He posts frequently about a number of different topics about strength, and is a very well spoken lifter.  His E-Book "Issuance of Insanity" is absolutely great for an advanced lifter.

LIFT-RUN-BANG - Paul Carter is another guy that lifts a ton of weight, and can write about it as well.  He takes a much more toned down approach than Jamie Lewis and knows his shit through and through.  I also recommend his book "Strength-Life-Legacy."
